DOC NYC Unveils 15th Anniversary Lineup: 31 World Premieres, Ronan Farrow, Thom Browne & More

DOC NYC: A Celebration of Documentary Filmmaking in NYC
America's biggest documentary festival, DOC NYC, has unveiled its 15th anniversary lineup, boasting 31 world premieres, 24 U.S. premieres, and over 110 feature-length documentaries. The festival runs from November 13-21 in Manhattan, with online screenings available until December 1.
Opening night features the U.S. premiere of Blue Road – The Edna O’Brien Story, a portrait of the acclaimed Irish writer. Closing night will be the world premiere of Drop Dead City – New York on the Brink in 1975, a look back at the city's financial crisis in the mid-70s.
The Centerpiece screening on November 14 will be the world premiere of All God’s Children, documenting the work of activist Rabbi Rachel Timoner and Baptist minister Robert Waterman to bring their Brooklyn congregations together to combat racism and antisemitism.
The festival highlights several world premieres, including:
- Surveilled: This film follows Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Ronan Farrow as he investigates the various ways our lives are surveilled by the state.
- Isla Familia: An intimate look at a Cuban family under siege by the repressive government.
- Spacewoman: Examining the journey of NASA astronaut Eileen Collins, the first woman to pilot and command the Space Shuttle.
- Thom Browne: The Man Who Tailors Dreams: This feature documentary examines the creative force behind fashion designer Thom Browne.
The festival also features a U.S. competition with films like Black Snow and Death & Taxes, an international competition showcasing After the Rain: Putin’s Stolen Children Come Home and Balomania, and a Metropolis Competition featuring New York-centric documentaries like Anxiety Club and Art Spiegelman: Disaster is My Muse.
