Diddy and Sam Bankman-Fried Share NYC Jail Wing
Sean "Diddy" Combs, the music mogul, has been moved to a special section of the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, where convicted cryptocurrency fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried is being held. Sources confirm that this area is reserved for detainees who require special protection.
The MDC, notorious for its reputation of violence and poor care, houses a range of high-profile defendants and individuals cooperating with investigations. This special unit, described as a barracks-style area, currently houses 18 to 20 inmates who require enhanced security.
Sam Bankman-Fried, known as SBF, was convicted in November and sentenced in March to 25 years in federal prison for orchestrating one of the largest financial frauds in history. He misused billions of customers’ dollars through his cryptocurrency exchange FTX and defrauded investors and lenders. Bankman-Fried is appealing his conviction.
Diddy, facing a federal indictment accusing him of a racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and other charges related to the sexual abuse of women, pleaded not guilty. A judge ordered that he be held in jail pending trial.
The MDC, located in eastern Brooklyn, has a total of 1,616 inmates.
