Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio will pay $330,000 in restitution for improperly using taxpayer funds during his unsuccessful 2019 presidential campaign. The Conflicts of Interest Board (COIB) accused de Blasio of misusing his NYPD security detail on over 30 occasions for campaign-related travel.

De Blasio admitted to making a mistake and settled the three-year-long litigation with the COIB. He has already paid $100,000, with the remaining amount to be paid over the next four years. The settlement includes a $10,000 fine. The restitution covers travel costs for the NYPD officers, excluding salaries and overtime.

De Blasio posted on X (formerly Twitter) stating his regret and that it's time to move forward.
