The Conflicts of Interest Board (COIB) accused de Blasio of misusing his NYPD security detail on over 30 occasions for campaign-related travel.
De Blasio admitted to making a mistake and settled the three-year-long litigation with the COIB. He has already paid $100,000, with the remaining amount to be paid over the next four years. The settlement includes a $10,000 fine. The restitution covers travel costs for the NYPD officers, excluding salaries and overtime.
De Blasio posted on X (formerly Twitter) stating his regret and that it's time to move forward.
