Coney Island Cyclone Roller Coaster Temporarily Out of Service
The iconic Coney Island Cyclone roller coaster is temporarily out of service after being halted mid-ride last week. A crack in the chain sprocket in the motor room caused the ride to be stopped on its ascent.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported and riders were safely evacuated from the ride.
The city's Buildings Department is investigating the incident and has issued two violations to Luna Park, the amusement park that operates the Cyclone, for failure to maintain the ride and for failing to notify the department about the incident.
The Cyclone will remain closed until repairs are completed and inspected. Luna Park has stated that safety is their top priority and that rides are tested daily before the park opens.
What's Next for the Cyclone
The iconic rollercoaster is expected to be back in operation soon, with Luna Park working diligently to repair the damage and get the ride back up and running. Stay tuned for updates.
