Coldplay Surprises NYC Record Store Shoppers with Intimate Performance

Coldplay Rocks Rough Trade with Surprise Performance

Coldplay fans in New York City were treated to a truly unforgettable experience on Tuesday morning. The band, fresh off their performance on the "TODAY" show, made a surprise appearance at Rough Trade, a popular record store in the city.

Chris Martin and the band, known for their massive stadium concerts, opted for a more intimate setting, performing an acoustic version of their new single "feelslikeimfallinginlove" for a handful of lucky shoppers.

The store manager, George Flanagan, described the moment as pure magic. "They kind of wanted it to be something where there were customers just shopping and, all of a sudden, they walk in and start playing," he said. "Which is kind of exactly what happened."

One particularly special moment occurred when Martin invited a 70-year-old fan on stage to dance alongside him during the song. He even gave her a kiss on the head, creating a heartwarming memory for both the fan and the band.

The surprise performance was a well-kept secret until the last minute, with Coldplay's team reaching out to Rough Trade just the night before. Flanagan explained that the band wanted to keep the event low-key to avoid overwhelming the small store with a large crowd. But, he added, "you're not gonna say no when a band like Coldplay calls up and offers to do something like that."

The impromptu performance ended with Coldplay squeezing into the store's photo booth for a memorable picture, which will now be included with copies of their new album purchased at Rough Trade. It was a reminder that even the biggest bands can still find joy in the simple things, like performing for a handful of fans in a record store.
