Citi Bike is Expanding Across NYC!

Get ready, New York City! Citi Bike is getting a major expansion, bringing convenient, sustainable transportation to even more neighborhoods. Mayor Eric Adams and the DOT just announced that by Fall 2025, the bike-sharing program will significantly expand its reach across Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx.

Key Expansion Areas:

• Brooklyn: Bay Ridge, Brownsville, East New York, and Kensington.
• Queens: West side of Flushing Meadows.
• Bronx: Riverdale and Norwood.

This expansion means that approximately 64% of New Yorkers will live within a five-minute walk of a Citi Bike station! That's a huge step towards making biking a more accessible and viable transportation option for everyone.

With over 1,700 stations and 27,000 bikes already in operation, Citi Bike's popularity is undeniable. October 2023 saw over 5.1 million rides, a massive 143% increase compared to October 2019. This expansion is a direct response to the growing demand for sustainable and efficient urban transportation.

"Citi Bike is more popular than ever because it’s convenient, sustainable, and a quick way to get around," said DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez. "Bike share has become an integral part of our transportation landscape, and this expansion will bring this great service to even more communities."
