Chaos in Nassau: NYC Traffic Stop Turns Deadly, Driver Shot Dead After High-Speed Chase

Deadly Chase Ends in Nassau

A traffic stop in Queens turned into a deadly police chase in Nassau County, leaving a driver dead and a bystander injured.

The incident began late Friday when a driver fled a traffic stop in Queens. Nassau County police officers pursued the driver, who they say rammed two NYPD officers before entering Sunrise Highway.

The chase escalated as the driver, who remains unidentified, hit two police vehicles, drove the wrong way on the highway, and struck an innocent driver. Police officers finally stopped the driver on Hicksville Road where a shooting occurred. The driver died at the scene.

Both a police officer and the civilian driver were transported to the hospital with injuries. The police commissioner declined to disclose whether the suspect was armed, stating the investigation is ongoing.
