Brooklyn Police Shooting: Man Fatally Shot After Precinct Attack

A 35-year-old man was fatally shot by NYPD officers in Brooklyn after allegedly attacking an officer with a butcher knife inside a precinct. The incident occurred early Sunday morning near the 73rd Precinct station house in Brownsville.

The Attack

The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, is seen on surveillance video first attempting to enter the locked front door of the precinct. He then allegedly accessed the building through a rear door, restricted to authorized personnel. Upon being confronted by an officer, he pulled out a 14-inch butcher knife and attacked her. The officer sustained superficial injuries but fought him off.
