Early Sunday morning, a three-car accident in Brooklyn sent shockwaves through the city, leaving two NYPD officers critically injured. The collision occurred at Coney Island Avenue and Avenue U in Homecrest, just after 2 a.m.

According to police, 24-year-old Diyorjon Sobirjonov, driving under the influence of alcohol, struck another vehicle before colliding with a police car. A witness described the impact as "crazy loud," believing initially a bomb had gone off. The two NYPD officers (both 34 years old) in the patrol car sustained critical injuries. Two passengers in Sobirjonov's vehicle were also injured – a 30-year-old man in stable condition and a 31-year-old man in critical condition.
The Aftermath:
Sobirjonov was arrested and faces multiple charges, including six counts of reckless endangerment and driving while intoxicated (DWI). The driver and passenger of the third vehicle involved refused medical treatment.
The severity of the injuries sustained by the officers and one passenger highlights the devastating consequences of drunk driving. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by impaired drivers on our roads.
