Bronx Car Wash Hit-and-Run: Suspect Arrested
More than two years after a fatal hit-and-run at a Bronx car wash, Trina Bryant has been arrested and charged.
The Incident
In February 2023, Felix Thomas Bontia, a 47-year-old car wash employee, was tragically killed when a Ford Escape, driven by Bryant, struck him. The incident, which occurred around 5:30 a.m., was captured on surveillance video. The impact pinned Bontia between the Ford Escape and a Toyota RAV4 he was drying.
Bryant and a passenger fled the scene after the accident. The driver of the RAV4 sustained minor injuries.
The Arrest and Charges
Bryant was arrested and charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, driving while under the influence of alcohol, and other related charges. She has pleaded not guilty.
Bontia's Life
Bontia, known to his friends as Benito Felix, had been working at the car wash for about a year while his family remained in Mexico.
