Body Found Burning in Shopping Cart in NYC: Horrific Details Emerge in Investigation

A horrifying discovery unfolded in Yonkers, New York, when a body was found burning inside a shopping cart along a sidewalk. The investigation, which quickly turned into a homicide case, revealed a chilling sequence of events.

The Discovery

The victim was discovered on a sidewalk near the Oak Street Bridge over the Bronx River Parkway shortly before 2 a.m. on Monday. The Westchester County Department of Public Safety and the Mount Vernon Fire Department responded to a report of a fire, extinguishing the flames to find the deceased body.

Investigation Leads to an Apartment in the Bronx

Yonkers Police, after finding the body in the shopping cart, ruled the incident a homicide and determined that the location of the discovery was simply a "dump site." The investigation was then transferred to the New York City Police Department and the Bronx County District Attorney's Office.

Investigators later discovered that the victim was believed to have been killed inside an apartment on Rogers Place in Longwood, Bronx. The body was then allegedly placed in a shopping cart, transported on the Melrose MetroNorth train station to Mount Vernon West, and eventually left on the Oak Street Bridge in Yonkers where it was set on fire.

Remains Found in Bronx Apartment

Surveillance video helped investigators trace the suspects on a train to Yonkers and back to the Bronx. A search warrant was executed at the apartment, where they found parts of the body, including hands and teeth. Drug paraphernalia and a gun were also found at the residence.

The Identity of the Victim Remains a Mystery

The victim's identity remains unknown, as investigators are struggling to determine who they were and how they died due to the severe burns inflicted on the body.

The case remains under investigation.
