Andrew Tarlow's First Manhattan Restaurant: Borgo Opens This September

Andrew Tarlow's Borgo: A New Restaurant in No Man's Land
Andrew Tarlow, the restaurateur behind Williamsburg's iconic Diner, is bringing his culinary expertise to Manhattan. Borgo, his new restaurant slated to open in September, is a family affair, with his son Elijah serving as one of the sous-chefs.

Borgo, which means "village" in Italian, is located in a unique spot at the border of Flatiron, Nomad, and Gramercy. Tarlow describes it as a "no man's land"—a developing area with a village feel.
The menu features classic, satisfying dishes with a focus on Italian flavors. Expect dishes like Sicilian garlic dip scurdalia, ancient-grain spaghetti with Calabrian anchovies and chiles, and pork ribs with fennel pollen.
A Family Affair
Tarlow's family is deeply involved in the restaurant. His son Elijah, a seasoned restaurant worker, will be joined by his sister, Beatrice, as a hostess. The restaurant is a testament to the family's legacy in the culinary world, with Tarlow's children growing up amidst the hustle and bustle of his previous restaurants.
Borgo's Design
The restaurant's design reflects Tarlow's signature style—timeless and elegant. The original bar from the previous occupant has been expanded, and the fireplace has been elevated to eye level. The large garden in the back features a metal sculpture by Gabrielle Shelton, a Diner regular.
A New Chapter for Tarlow
Borgo represents a new chapter for Tarlow, offering him the opportunity to build a restaurant he can pass down to his children. It's also a return to Manhattan, where he met his wife and where his culinary journey began.
