New York's largest Veterans Day parade is back on Wednesday, Nov. 11.

When and where

The 107th New York City Veterans Day Parade, produced by the United War Veterans Council, marches on Fifth Avenue from 26th to 45th Streets. AmNY and UWVC say the parade steps off at 12:30 p.m.

Before the march, amNY reports a wreath-laying at 10:55 a.m. in Madison Square Park (Fifth Avenue between East 23rd and 24th Streets), with wreaths from veteran representatives, public officials, foreign allies and senior military leaders. AmNY cited ABC7 as a partner of the event.

Who leads it

UWVC named NASA astronaut and U.S. Navy veteran Sunita “Suni” L. Williams as grand marshal, and U.S. Navy veteran Vicki Bello — manager of community and veterans programs for the Theatre Development Fund — as honorary marshal. AmNY reported the same names.

UWVC's parade page lists more than 280 marching units, 20,000-plus marchers, 25-plus floats and 150-plus vehicles.

The Council fight the next day

Council Member Frank Morano (R-Staten Island), who chairs the Council's veterans committee, told amNY the parade matters — and so does follow-through. He said he is pushing Intro. 1051, which would let the city fully wipe out property taxes for veterans the VA rates permanently and totally disabled because of military service, for a vote on Nov. 12. He said the bill has a bipartisan majority of Council sponsors.

More parade information is on the UWVC parade page.
