Key points
  • FDNY Open House 2026 is Saturday, Oct. 17, and Sunday, Oct. 18, with sessions from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. (FDNY, FDNY Foundation).
  • Visitors can tour participating firehouses and EMS stations, watch demonstrations, learn fire and life safety tips and ask about FDNY careers (FDNY Foundation).
  • Not every house participates on both days; FDNY's Open House map lists locations and times (FDNY).
  • Brooklyn Community Board 4 and other local boards have been amplifying the reminder ahead of the weekend.
  • FDNY points residents to fdnysmart.org for safety information and joinfdny.com for recruiting (FDNY Foundation).

The Fire Department of New York will open firehouses and EMS stations across the five boroughs this weekend for its annual Open House, the department and the FDNY Foundation said.

Sessions run Saturday, Oct. 17, and Sunday, Oct. 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors can meet firefighters, EMTs and paramedics, tour apparatus floors, watch live demonstrations, pick up fire and life safety tips and ask about careers with the department, according to the FDNY Foundation.

How to find your house

Not every company is open both days. FDNY's Open House page tells residents to use the 2026 Open House map to confirm which local firehouse or EMS station is participating and which session to attend.

Community boards have also been circulating the reminder. Brooklyn Community Board 4 posted the same Oct. 17–18 schedule and pointed residents to the map before linking to fdnysmart.org for safety resources and joinfdny.com for recruiting information.

Open House is one of the department's largest yearly public outreach events. Families planning a visit should arrive for the start of a session and follow any guidance posted at the house, including rules around photography and apparatus access.
