Four below-market apartments in a new Clinton Hill rental are up for grabs in the city's housing lottery. Applications for 899 Fulton Street, also listed as 486 Clinton Avenue, close Tuesday, Nov. 10, according to the Housing Connect data republished by RentReboot and Weverit.
Rents and incomes
All four apartments are set at 60% of area median income:
- One-bedroom (1 unit): $1,656 a month, for households of 1 to 3 people earning $65,418 to $91,620 a year.
- Two-bedroom (3 units): $1,894 a month, for households of 2 to 5 people earning $78,515 to $109,920 a year.
Weverit lists an asset cap of $101,760. Minimum incomes may not apply to households with a Section 8 voucher or another rental subsidy, RentReboot notes.
For context, new two-bedroom listings in Brooklyn had a median asking rent of $4,350 in September, according to RentReboot's rental index, so the lottery two-bedrooms rent for well under half of that.
Who gets picked first
- 20% of units go first to eligible residents of Brooklyn Community District 2.
- 10% go first to eligible City of New York employees and military veterans.
- Everyone else is reviewed in lottery log order, with New York City residents first. Preferences require proof.
