Woman, 66, killed in wrong-way crash on Staten Island's West Shore Expressway

Police say a Range Rover heading north in the southbound lanes hit a Kia early Saturday, and a Jeep then struck both. Four other people were hospitalized in stable condition.

A 66-year-old woman was killed early Saturday when a driver going the wrong way on Staten Island's West Shore Expressway crashed into her car, police said.

The crash happened at about 5:36 a.m., PIX11 reported. According to police, a 36-year-old woman driving a Range Rover north in the expressway's southbound lanes hit a Kia Seltos driven by the 66-year-old woman, who was heading south. A Jeep driven by a 21-year-old woman, also heading south, then struck both the Kia and the Range Rover, ABC7 reported.

The driver of the Kia was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released her name.

The 36-year-old Range Rover driver and the 21-year-old Jeep driver were taken to Richmond University Medical Center in stable condition, along with two passengers in the Jeep, a 21-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man, police said.

All of the drivers remained at the scene, according to police. The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is investigating, and no arrests have been made.
