Prospect Heights has a new ramen shop on a familiar corner. SSRP, a Japanese ramen house and izakaya whose name stands for "slurp, sip, repeat," opened on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 565 Vanderbilt Ave., at Pacific Street, according to Eater NY.

The space was long home to the ramen shop Chuko. The Infatuation reported that SSRP comes from the people behind neighborhood favorites Nourish and Ozakaya.

What's on the menu

The star is tonkotsu ramen made with slow-simmered broth, slow-cooked pork chashu and house-made noodles, Eater reported. The restaurant's own site promises shared bites beyond the bowl, something to drink, and music, and calls itself a place for a good time that "shouldn't need a special occasion."

Eater described an industrial-style corner room in a brownstone, with a slurping black cat as the logo and lit-up lettering in all caps.
