What police say happened

Port Authority police responded at about 11 p.m. on Oct. 11 to a call about a "physically abusive passenger" aboard Delta Flight 938, which was parked at the gate after arriving from LAX, the agency said. The passenger, identified as Blair, 54, was taken into custody and brought to a hospital for evaluation, amNewYork reported. Sources told ABC News she was treated at Jamaica Hospital.

Two flight attendants reported injuries and one was taken to a hospital for further evaluation, according to the Port Authority, amNewYork reported. Before landing, the pilots told air traffic controllers that one person had a bloody nose and another had bite marks, and asked for medical personnel at the gate, ABC7 reported.

Variety, citing TMZ, reported that Blair allegedly tried to open the plane's door in flight, punched one flight attendant and bit another, amNewYork noted. Those accounts have not been confirmed by authorities.

Charges and investigation

Sources told ABC News that Blair was brought to Queens Central Booking on Monday and faces two counts of assault for allegedly kicking a Port Authority police officer, and could face another charge over an altercation with a nurse at the hospital. She was also issued a federal violation notice for assault within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States, answerable in petty-violations court at Brooklyn federal court, with no appearance date set, the sources said.

The FBI and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating, ABC7 reported.

What Blair's camp and Delta say

Blair's representative said she "experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct," received immediate medical attention after landing and is in stable condition, according to both outlets.

Delta said the incident had no operational impact, the flight arrived ahead of schedule, and law enforcement met the plane at the gate. "Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior," the airline said.

ABC7 noted that Blair was removed from a flight on a stretcher in 2016, after which she apologized and said she had mixed alcohol with medication.
