Eyal Shani, the Israeli chef behind Miznon, Port Sa'id and Greenwich Village's Michelin-starred Shmoné, has a new restaurant on the Brooklyn waterfront. Naked Tomato opened on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 476 Kent Ave., near South 11th Street in Williamsburg, Eater NY reported.

The original Naked Tomato opened in Miami, and Shani runs restaurants in cities including Tel Aviv, Paris, Melbourne and London, according to Eater. The Infatuation describes it as an Israeli restaurant with the chef's signature playful dish names, but with food meant to be more stripped down than at his other places.

What's on the menu

The red dining room sends out a meze menu, Eater said, with dishes such as the Real Naked Tomato, green beans served in a bag with a lemon-garlic vinaigrette, and a trio of chicken skewers. The restaurant's own site also shows a lamb ragù pasta.

The new feature here is a chef's tasting table at the open kitchen, which Eater called a first for Shani. It spotlights dishes like the North Abraxas burger, meant to be eaten in "three bites only," and a baguette bruschetta with anchovies.

Hours and reservations

Naked Tomato serves dinner only. Its Brooklyn page lists hours of 4:30 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and 4:30 to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. It is closed Monday and Tuesday. Reservations are on Resy.

One tip: the restaurant's main homepage has shown an older address of 470 Kent Ave., the North Brooklyn site The Edit noted. Use 476 Kent Ave., the address on the Brooklyn location page and in Eater's listing.
