NYC Braces for Arctic Blast: Snow Possible This Weekend!
Get ready, New York City! After enjoying unusually warm temperatures this week, a significant arctic chill is set to hit the tri-state area. We're talking some of the coldest temperatures of 2024!
Temperatures will gradually decrease, bottoming out in the 20s on Sunday and Monday, with morning lows dipping into the teens. This could rival January 17th's low of 17 degrees – the coldest day of the year so far for Central Park.
Rain and Possible Snow
The cool-down brings a chance of rain and even snow. Rain will move in Wednesday afternoon, lingering overnight, but totals will be under half an inch. A fast-moving clipper system on Friday night could bring a mix of rain and snow, with a dusting of snow possible in NYC by Saturday.
Weekend Freeze
The arctic blast truly arrives this weekend, with overnight lows plummeting into the teens. By Monday morning, temperatures might be around 16 degrees, matching January's record low. Don't forget your warmest winter gear!
Fortunately, the extreme cold won't last long. Temperatures will rebound into the 40s by mid-week, just in time for the holidays!
