NYC Christmas Eve Snow Alert: White Christmas Possible?
New Yorkers might wake up to a Christmas Eve surprise: snow! A snow-producing system is moving into the Northeast overnight, potentially bringing slick travel conditions Tuesday morning. Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for parts of New Jersey.
Snowfall Forecast: Timing and Impacts
The National Weather Service predicts a 40% chance of snow showers in NYC after 4 a.m. Tuesday. FOX 5 NY's Mike Woods reports that snow showers could lead to a slick commute. Upstate New York is expected to see fresh snowfall or lingering light snow on Christmas Eve morning. The snow is expected to be light and taper off quickly on Christmas Eve, minimizing travel disruptions later in the day.
How Much Snow?
While the exact amount is uncertain, even a light snowfall could have some impact. Mike Woods notes that even an inch of snow would be significant.
NYC School Winter Break
New York City Public Schools are on winter recess from Monday, December 23rd, to Wednesday, January 1st.
