This exciting project is a collaborative effort between the Mayor's office, Cirrus Workforce Housing, and the New York City Building Trades. Construction in College Point is slated to begin in 2028.
Key Features:
- 3,000 new housing units: Addressing the city's critical housing shortage. This will provide homes for essential workers including cops, firefighters, nurses, sanitation workers, and teachers.
- Preservation of Wetlands: 60 acres of wetlands will be preserved, ensuring environmental sustainability.
- Public-Private Partnership: A successful collaboration between the city and private sector for the greater good.
- Part of a Larger Plan: This project contributes to Mayor Adams' goal of building 500,000 new homes by 2032.
This initiative highlights the "City of Yes" plan and the commitment to providing affordable housing for New York City's essential workforce. The project underscores the transformation of underutilized land into valuable community assets, combining progress with environmental responsibility.
